Enumerators were trained immediately prior to baseline data collection and then refresher training was conducted one week between each surveillance round.

New field workers received one week training before they start work and paired with the help of a field supervisor on the first week of work.

Data collected electronically using Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and Android Tablets which are loaded with preprogrammed questionnaires which have been programmed with checks, tested before the start of the round.

Used to register residents migration (both in migration and out migration)

Used to reguster vaccination status of children below 3 years

Used to record pregnancies and register outcomes



6. Births registration

Used to register all the new births of resident mothers



8. Household morbidity

Use to collect morbidity of the household members



7. Death form

used to register deaths of all residents



8. Verbal Autopsy

used to collect details of a death from close care givers, friends or witnesses of a death information used to arrive at probable cause of death,

A team of 23 fieldsworkers working within the study area with 8 field supervisors each supervising between 3-4 fieldworkers. The field supervisors do spot checks to ensure that the fieldworkers have visited the households.
